Even More Awesome Poster and Essay Winners!

Original Post from 6/13/2013

We are certainly lucky to  have some very talented writers and artists in our Hamilton County schools!   The district is happy to see that they are using their talents to spread their own message of soil and water conservation and protection.

I had the pleasure of awarding 4th-grader Miss Ada Eichelbrenner of Sherwood Elementary a $25 Half-Price Books gift certificate for her outstanding 1st place essay in the 3rd-5th grade category.  We chose her entry because of  the way she wrapped her knowledge of local watersheds and a simple call to action into a really creative and fun one-page essay.  Awesome work, Ada!  Behind every good student is a fabulous teacher, and in this case it was Wendy Galluppi, who also received a $25 gift certificate to Half-Price Books.  Take a few minutes to read Ada' s essay below!

Our K-2nd poster contest winner this year was the lovely Natalie Smith from Our Lady of Victory in Delhi Township. Her poster reminds us to be a patriotic citizen and not litter, keeping fish happy and water clean! She will also be able to shop for new reading material at Half-Price Books with her $25 Gift Certificate.   Her sponsoring teacher, Ms. Christina Ashley, was unable to accept to be there to collect her prize.  Pictured to the left is the Environmental Club teacher Mary Ann Mecher.  Congratulations!

Thanks to all of those who participated in the 2013 contests!

Be sure to check our 2014 Poster, Essay, Recycled Sculpture, Envirothon and Caring For Watersheds contests to see how you can get your students involved!!
